Soldeu is a small but popular village, perfectly located at the foot of the slopes of the Grandvalira ski domain. It has a vast appeal to skiers, snowboarders and winter sports enthusiasts who are attracted by the superb mountain offering. The village sits at an altitude of 1710 metres, from here you can hop on the eight seater gondola lift which will take you directly to the main slopes in a matter of minutes.

Such is the appeal and quality of Soldeu (Grandvalira) as a winter sports destination that it regularly attracts a number of top ski and snowboard events, including the much anticipated Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup which has taken place towards the end of February in recent years.

A vast amount of money has been spent on the infrastructure within Soldeu recently, both on and off the slopes; parts of the village (particularly around the main gondola station) have become more upmarket, with some fantastic four and five star hotels and facilities. The jewel in the crown of Soldeu being the superb Sport Hotel Hermitage, a part of the leading hotels of the world group, with an exquisite mountain spa which is also open to the general public. However despite the recent investment, Soldeu still remains a wonderfully down to earth and welcoming village, which also offers plenty of quaint two and three star properties of good quality, appealing to a wide range of international visitors. With excellent facilities for families, couples and groups alike, the resort attracts a diverse range of people, with many holidaymakers returning year after year. There is also an excellent hostel in nearby El Tarter catering well for single travellers on a budget.
